Outdoor kitchen care and how to winter-proof your al fresco kitchen
Ok, so we’re in the business of selling outdoor kitchens in the UK. Therefore it’s probably only fair we give you some advice on caring for your al fresco kitchen over the colder, wetter months.
Prepare your Cubic outdoor kitchen for winter with these simple steps:
Step 1: Clean and care for grill and cooking equipment
Start by eliminating grease and grill residues from all cooking utensils. Safeguard your stainless steel appliances against flash rust with a specialised stainless steel care product.
Step 2: Clean and care for the worktop
In the second step, refresh the worktop by removing coarse dirt and giving it a new shine with a suitable cleaner. Consider applying a ceramic and natural stone sealant for added protection.
Step 3: Clean and care for the cabinets
Proceed to clean both the exterior and interior of all cabinets using Cubic Basic Cleaner, specifically designed for painted surfaces.
Step 4: Winterise built-in appliances – Sink unit
Turn off the water supply and open the faucet tap to drain all water.
Open the connection to the water supply to ensure complete drainage.
If a water storage tank is present, remove the water from it.
Protected area:
Start the machine’s pump-down program to remove water from the circuit. Close the water supply.
Unprotected area:
In areas vulnerable to frost, add antifreeze before draining water. This prevents residues in membranes from freezing even after drainage. When reusing the machine at suitable temperatures, add water, pump out once, and repeat to remove antifreeze from the circuit.
Unit fridge:
Disconnect various refrigerators from the mains at sub-zero temperatures, considering the potential freezing of contents.
Step 5: Clean and care for the cladding
Remove green coating from cladding using a cleaner. Preserve the wood’s colour with an oil care product, such as Cubic green patina cleaner, Cubic silver wood restorer, and Cubic special hardwood oil.
Step 6: Cover
In the final step, provide additional protection for simple kitchen islands by using a cover. Reach out to us, and we’ll be delighted to assist you in this regard.
